Melodic Foundation Studies for the Double Bass • $16.00
Thomas B. Gale

This volume takes the player into the intermediate and intermediate-advanced levels. It covers a range up to the octave and uses all closed hand (Simandl) fingering techniques. The goal is to have the student learn to play musically in the first six positions and uses the twenty most common major and minor keys. Each of the ten main sections is followed by a “Review Etude” that incorporates the studied rhythms, fingerings and bowings into a musical setting.

A companion CD performed by Dr. Mark Morton is available: containing Melodic Foundation Studies Review Etudes 1-10, and Technical Foundation Studies, Vol. 2 Etudes 1-9 • $14.95

“An excellent and desperately needed book filling much of the gap between the intermediate player and the advanced intermediate play.” — International Society of Bassists, Spring 1993

“...a positive and challenging musical experience for students...” — American String Teachers Association, Winter 1992
