We have all experienced a time when we hit
a “wall” in one aspect or another in our playing — it’s
just a normal part of developing as a musician. Having said
that, this wall will probably not disappear on its own — you
are going to have to do something about it. The American
School of Double Bass® has scheduled several Weekend
Woodshed Clinics to help you climb over your wall, the same
wall that your colleagues attending these clinics are facing
too. Together, we will take the bull by the horns and make
substantial headway in scaling the wall, or knocking it down
entirely in a day-long immersion in specific aspects of playing
the double bass.
We cannot guarantee that you will gain complete
mastery of any given technique by the end of the day, though
some players might, but we will guarantee that we go a long
way toward achieving your goal. Perhaps more importantly,
we will give you the tools to master the skill with study
and continued practice at home.
Players of all ability levels and experience
are welcome to all American School of Double Bass® events.
All that is needed is an open mind, and a willingness and
desire to improve your playing. Please join us for these
events in the American School of Double Bass® home — a
century-old restored Victorian firehouse near downtown Columbus.
Group instruction will take place in the large, elegant performance
space, where the old horse-drawn steam fire engines were
housed.
